Lets make a Table!

Kia ora Team! Ko Lucinda Toku ingoa and I am from Marshland school. Today our Teachers talked about the distribution of weight, structure, and planning of a table. Surprise, surprise! We are making a table out of newspaper and tape in groups of five. I actually worked with some super cool new people I have never worked with before. It turned out to be a very fun experience, learning about them and working together. Our time limit was 25 minutes, with five minutes thinking and 10 minutes planning. My Team had it all worked out with 5 very strong legs and a thick tabletop. I think we did a good job spreading out what tasks people had to do but unfortunately, we didn't get it done in time. To be honest, there were some really awesome structures and that really got me down thinking ours was not going to work. But, ours actually was the best. Most of the tables could only hold 1 to 3, but we held 10 books and 1 laptop. Still, I knew everybody did a really good job, no matter what. One of our challenges was not being able to manage our time properly. Check out the slide above to hear a full review of the task and see what our product looked like.

What do you think we could have done better? Have you ever done anything like this?

Cooking experiment!

 Cooking presentation

Kia ora Koutou! Sorry I have not been posting for a while. I have a fun experiment that you guys might want to try at home or even at School. For Math, we have been learning about measurement, and to showcase our learning we needed to do a type of baking. We got into groups and sorted out who was bringing what and what we were baking. My group chooses the famous Chocolate chip Cookies! I thought we were really organized and ready to bake. You're going to need to see my presentation to find out what happens to the cookies. One word. Disastrous. We did find it a challenge to work together but eventually, we got the hang of it.

What do you think of our cookies? Do you think we could of done better?

Lets go Matariki!

Kia ora Koutou! Ko Lucinda Toku ingoa. Matariki is creeping upon us, but Toroa is already organized. To celebrate the Maori new year (2 July 2021) we decided to go for a beautiful piece of extraordinary art to showcase one of the most popular star constellations. Matariki, the mother, and her six daughters, Tupu-ā-Nuku, Tupu-ā-rangi, Waipunarangi, Waitī and Waitā, and Ururangi.

My Art pieces! This type of art is called 'Printmaking' You usually do it on foam.
Which one do you like best?
Interested in this type of art? Want to celebrate Matariki in a unique way?
Heres all the steps to make this beautiful art;
1. Find some information about Matariki. What time do they come out? Are there any other names for Matariki?
2.  It time for a draft! Get out a piece of scrap paper and fold it a quarter of the way. Sketch your mountain, Mt. Cook, Mt. Arthur, etc. making sure that your Mountains don't take up the whole page. Here comes the Matariki part.
3. Look up a map of Matariki to see exactly where the stars go. Copy that onto your scrap paper but draw it backward. When you print it onto your paper, it will be reversed so as to make sure it's the right way, when you onto your foam draw it backwards.
4. Time to GENTLY draw it onto your foam. Making sure to draw it backwards again too. Remember, DO NOT down hard on the foam otherwise, when you put the ink on it, it won't look very good.
5. Next, get an assortment of ink colours and using a roller (It sounded like a cat rolling its tongue!) to roll on the ink. Make sure to put heaps on so, it doesn't look drained.
6. Leave it to dry for a while. Decide whether or not you would like to put a border on it but I would recommend doing so.
7. BOOM, you've got your amazing Matariki art.
I love Matariki because it really showcases our Maori culture. I hope you like my art.

The Cave of Wonders!

Hello Bloggers! You may have been wondering about my part as The Cave of Wonders. Well, now your queries may be answered. Another task from our Production slide was to create a scene you are in on Storyboard That. I created a scene that is based specifically on me. It was to showcase the fact that I know all the lines needed in my scene. It actually didn't take too long to make this but it was a fun little task to do. I hope you enjoy learning that little bit more about my school's Production. Click on the pictures for a closer look.
What's your favourite scene in Aladdin? Why?

Sensenstion and Perception

                                                   My One                                  My Buddies one

Kia ora Koutou! My name is Lucy and I am a Student at Marsland school. Today we did, SCIENCE! We learned some super interesting stuff and after watching some very informal videos, questions clouded our heads, unanswered. How do we know if our Brain is lying to us? How can our body sense touch?
Luckily all that was answered when our Teacher set us with a cool task to get into a pair and receive a case of weird appliances. A set of Calipers, a blindfold, and a ruler. We were also given a sheet to record stuff on. One side was English the other Te reo Maori. We had to take turns with one person with the blindfold on and one pressing the Caliper on a body part. The person with the blindfold would have to say if they felt two points or one. I enjoyed the experience but was scared of the sharp points on the Cailper. We didn't get to completely finish our sheet but we did have a good time. If you're still stuck, look at the slide at the bottom.

Hooray for Perimeter, Area, Volume!

 Perimeter, Area, Volume Presentation

Ni hao Bloggers! For the past couple of weeks, Shaw's maths has been learning about Perimeter, Area, and Volume. With help from Quizzes and lots of worksheets, we had Perimeter, Area, and Volume in the bag. Our task was to create a presentation showing our understanding of Perimeter, Area, and Volume. I decided to do mine on Canva because it's such a great app for decorating and displaying your work. If you click on the link-up at the top, you will be taken to my video. Make sure to unmute it to listen to the cute music to go along with it. At first, I found it hard to understand Perimeter, Area, and Volume but soon it became easy as pie. If you're confused about Perimeter, Area, and Volume, click on this video which will surely help you.

What can I improve on?
